eureka archaeological research and consulting

Eureka staff have extensive experience conducting cultural heritage surveys, archaeological excavations and salvages of Aboriginal and historical sites throughout Australia. Where required, Eureka also has an on call team of experienced professionals and specialist sub-contractors to assist on a project specific basis.

Dr. Victoria Winton Project Manager - Senior Archaeologist

Vicky’s area of expertise is the analysis and interpretation of stone artefacts and hunter-gatherer archaeology. Vicky first worked for Eureka as a consultant in 2005 before returning to the company as a Project Manager in June 2008. Since 1998 vicky has experience as an archaeologist, gaining a doctorate for an analysis of stone artefacts, working as a university lecturer and co-ordinating archaeological projects in Europe and Africa.



Sarah Burke Project Manager - Senior Archaeologist Sarah Burke in the Field

BA (Hons), MA Heritage Management
Sarah has been working in the cultural heritage industry in Australia and the UK since 2002. Sarah’s skills in archaeology include project management for a range of clients including government, public and private organisations, community consultation, research, survey and excavation, assessment and reporting. Her heritage experience also includes interpretation development, cultural policy and collection management.

Vivene Brown Archaeologist
Viviene Brown in the field

Viviene has been working as an archaeologist in Western Australia since late 2005. In this time she has worked on Aboriginal heritage assessment projects in the Pilbara, Goldfields, Murchison and South-west regions. She is currently working on publications detailing the results of her Honours thesis, and a synthesis of the archaeological record in the Murchison.

BSc (Hons)
Illya has worked as an archaeologist in Australia since 2008; in addition he also provides GIS & mapping services at Eureka. Illya also has a number of years field experience working for a major archaeological consulting company in the UK. He is running a session at the 2009 Australian Archaeological Association conference, and will be presenting on applications of technology in Heritage Consulting.
