eureka archaeological research and consulting

Accurate readings with use of differential GPSeureka archaeological research and consulting is an experienced cultural heritage management consultancy operating in association with the University of Western Australia. Eureka provides high quality archaeological services relating to Indigenous, Historical and Maritime cultural heritage. Our clients include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, the private sector and government bodies.

Eureka has a wealth of experience delivering a range of services including background and archival research, desktop studies, archaeological site surveys and recording, significance assessment, heritage permit application, monitoring salvage and excavations.

Since 2003 Eureka has undertaken more than 100 Aboriginal and historic heritage projects throughout Western Australia. The Eureka team ensures client and stakeholder relations are handled in a personal and professional manner. Eureka works extensively with local Indigenous communities and promotes the training of Aboriginal people as part of heritage consulting projects.

The Eureka team aims to provide accurate high quality heritage management services to project scope, on time and within budget.


Archaeological Best Practice

Eureka adhere to the ethics and best practice of representative associations, the Australian Association of Consulting Archaeologists Inc (AACAI), the Australian Archaeological Association (AAA) and the Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology Inc (ASHAI).


OSH Standards

Eureka has developed its own Occupational Safety and Health policy dealing specifically with archaeological project risks. Additionally, Eureka staff adhere to University, state and federal OSH legislation. Eureka carries all necessary insurances. Eureka staff are trained in 4WD driving, senior first aid and have necessary work place induction training for working on building and mining sites, as well as in remote isolated locations.

Research & Teaching

Eureka was created as a complement to the UWA Archaeology department's research and teaching activities. As well as providing professional cultural heritage consulting services, Eureka staff contribute to the undergraduate field methods teaching program. Eureka also endeavors to facilitate links between Industry and UWA's archaeological research training for honours and graduate student projects.
